The year in Amyntaio follows an old rhythm. At Epiphany and on 8 January the villages celebrate with customs reaching back generations; at Carnival the plateau lights up with bonfires and masquerades; on May Day the townspeople take to the lakeshores.
In late summer the Amyntaia festival brings concerts and cultural events, followed by the great trade fair (emporopanigyri) of Amyntaio — a tradition tied to the town’s railway and market history. In autumn, the rakokazana: the distilling of tsipouro, with music and open cellars.
